here comes the sun

Ongoing construction in London’s outskirts has unearthed an apparently naturally mummified human body dating back to the mid 1800's. Found alongside the body were two journals, one in English and one in Japanese. While the occurrence of grave goods in Victorian burials is not unusual, the Japanese notebook seems to predate the opening of Japan to the western world in 1853, making it an exceptionally rare find.

According to the English journal, the deceased's name in life was Oswald Wilton, and its contents appear to be highly unusual and esoteric in nature, while the Japanese notebook consists mainly of calligraphy exercises.

The English notebook started off normal enough, though eventually devolved into the scribblings of a madman convinced that real monsters were striking at the heart of London at night. The journal abruptly ends, and our researchers were only able to find more strange things about the case when they found the obituary for Oswald Wilton, who was fatally shot by his own son one horrible evening in 1850.

The mummy has been examined by London archeologists; upon determining its Japanese heritage, it is now being prepared for transfer to Japan in cooperation with the Japanese embassy and government, where the mummy will undergo an in-depth scientific evaluation to solve several medical mysteries surrounding the body and its method of mummification.

Fukuoka. The Japanese mummy discovered in the city of London, Great Britain, has arrived in Japan, where it will now be examined by a team of scientists to solve the mystery of its mummification and unlikely reappearance in the heart of the former British Empire.

Already, several strange inconsistencies have began to emerge, such as the fact the Japanese notebook does not appear to have shared an author with the English diary. Secondly, there is no evidence to support the hypothesis of a death by shooting as detailed in the obituary that matches the apparent name of the deceased, as no physical injuries have been found on the body. Furthermore, a CT scan seems to indicate that the organs are all present, in pristine condition and, in a stunning upset that continues to baffle scientists and medical professionals, not mummified.

Thus far, scientists have concluded that the deceased is not, in fact, identical with the author of the English diary, and have dubbed him the Shriveled Man for the time being. Their investigation in the strange physical condition of the deceased is still ongoing.

Tragedy struck last Monday as several scientists were found dead in a archeology facility in Fukuoka. Due to the graphic nature of the scene, investigators are currently treating this incident as a homicide.

The facility in question was responsible for the analysis of the body known as The Shriveled Man (as previously reported), which has apparently disappeared and, thus far, has not been recovered.

While investigators are still looking for a culprit, a means or a motive, paranormal enthusiasts have claimed the Shriveled Man to be the mysterious killer, owing to bloody footprints leading away from the table the mummy was resting on.
